This is a very delicate and time consuming craft, that I learnt from a master of this art, Mazatlcoatl. This is an instrument of prayer intended to be used in ceremony and not only. It is NOT decorative or used to “fan” yourself when you’re getting hot. Each feather is decorated with florals, stacked threading & leather. They are all put together and held with a beaded handle with leather tassels. This is a traditional way to make these fans.
